CENTRAL COLORADO EVENTING BYLAWS
Revised and approved March 2023
PURPOSE:
Our club's purpose is to grow the sport of eventing in Colorado and Area IX. This will be accomplished through supporting the maintenance of Spring Gulch Equestrian Park to make it accessible and safe for public use, organizing fun and educational activities for members of CCE, and hosting Horse Trials for all of Area IX to participate in.
Article 1. The name of this organization shall be Central Colorado Eventing.
Article 2. A quorum for the conduct of business at meetings shall consist of one-third of the Executive Committee.
Article 3. The Executive Committee shall consist of officers–president, vice-president(s), secretary, treasurer and delegate–and Committee chairpersons appointed by the president. The Executive Committee shall establish policies and coordinate club activities and shall hold meetings as deemed necessary. Officers shall be elected annually and take office 1 February.
Article 4. Amendments to this Constitution shall be made by two-thirds vote of the Executive Committee.
Article 5. The CCE shall have the right to adopt any bylaws deemed necessary to proper functioning of the organization.
Section 1. Members
A. Any person who has paid dues at the approved rate and signed a liability release shall be considered a member of CCE.
B. An individual member is 18 years and over.
C. A Junior member is any member under 18 years on January 1st.
Section 2. Membership
A. Individual membership shall be available to any individual 18 years and over and entitles that member to a full vote.
B. Junior membership shall be available to any individual under 18 years of age on January 1st and entitles that member to one full vote.
C. Family membership shall be available to two or more family members of the same family and entitles that membership to one vote.
D. Subscribing membership shall be available to any individual and entitles that member to all mailings but no vote.
E. All membership dues shall be determined by a majority vote of the Executive Committee.
Section 3. Meetings
A. Regular meetings shall be held monthly if possible, at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
B. Special meetings may be called by a quorum of the members or by the Executive Committee. Time and place will be announced on the organization calendar on the organization's website at least seven (7) days in advance.
Section 4. Duties of Elected Officers
A. The President shall:
- Preside at all official club meetings and functions.
- Break ties in a vote of the Executive Committee.
- Appoint Committee chairpersons.
- Oversees all operations pertaining to the horse trials
B. The Vice-President shall:
- Assist the president in the performance of duties and act for her/him in the president’s absence.
- Organizes clinics.
- Organizes the annual end of year banquet and awards.
- Organizes awards for the end of horse trails and combined tests run by the organization.
- Collect points from members to calculate year-end awards.
C. SECRETARY
- Handle and keep records of all transactions, business and correspondence.
- Keep minutes of the meetings.
- Communicate with members regarding club business and upcoming events.
- Maintain membership roster, addresses, receive and process new memberships.
D. TREASURER
- Collect all dues and other monies and act as custodian thereof.
- Pay all bills authorized by the Executive Committee.
- Keep a complete record of all financial business and send out monthly accounts statement.
- Handle maintenance of governing documents (i.e. Constitution and Bylaws).
- Address administrative items pertaining to the organization's status as a club in Colorado.
Standing Committees -
Show Maintenance -
- Manages show grounds and facility preparation for competitive events.
- Manages volunteers leading up to and on the day of competition.
- Perform show secretary duties for combined tests: advertise show, create entry form, accept entries, designate ride times, prepare dressage tests, communicate with competitors, etc.
Sponsorships & Social Media –
- Manages sponsorships and partnerships.
- Organizes gifts/prizes at the end of horse trails and combined tests run by the organization.
- Promotes activities, make announcements, and recruit followers through CCE sanctioned social media forums.
Section 5. Awards
A. Must be CCE member in order to qualify for awards. Membership applications must be received prior to the first day of any competition that you wish to include for consideration of year end awards.
B. Points for Year-end awards of CCE can be accumulated at any event that follows USEA rules and is held in the CCE area (Area IX) only.
C. Scale of points for winners:
a. USEA recognized Horse Trials (Two & Three phase) – Double points
b. USEA recognized 3-Day Event (long format) – Quadruple points
c. USEA Area IX Championship Horse Trials – Triple points
d. American Eventing Championship Horse Trial (AEC) –Quadruple points
e. USEA recognized FEI CIC/CCI event (including outside area IX) – point system based on starters
f. Non-USEA events or ‘Schooling Shows’ (Two & Three phase) – Single points
g. Volunteer Hours -2 points *see additional guidelines “d.”
D. Point Basis - The point configuration is based on a minimum of 6 starters per division. If there are fewer than 6 starters the point tally will be reduced by ½. It is incumbent upon the secretary of each unrecognized horse show (non-USEA event) OR a rider who has competed at the Elementary level at USEA recognized events to get the results to the Vice President of Celebrations for year-end award calculations.

3rd Place – 8 points
4th Place – 7 points
5th Place - 6 points
6th Place – 5 points
7th Place– 4 points
8th Place– 3 points
9Th Place – 2 points
10th Place- 1 point
E. Eligibility - To receive a high point award at any level, both the rider and the owner of the horse must be members of CCE and points must have been earned by the same horse-rider combination in the competition year.
F. Additional guidelines
a. Year-end Senior & Junior Champion and reserve awards shall be given to, Beginner Novice, Novice and Training Levels.
b. Volunteer points are received for a minimum of 4 hours volunteer service at any USEA, Non-USEA show ‘schooling show’ with-in Area IX or volunteering service at Spring Gulch or other CCE functions.
i. 1 point earned for 4 hours of volunteer time (maximum of 8 hours or 2 points)
c. To be eligible, each rider/horse combination must submit an itemized listing of places and points earned to the Vice President within one month of the last event of the calendar year or with “call for awards,” whichever comes first.
d. Regarding eligibility for the Beginner Novice Rider award, the rider must be new to eventing- i.e. never competed in a combined training event prior to the current eventing season. Must be an amateur and must be the same horse/rider combination.
e. Regarding eligibility for the Spirit of Eventing Award, the nominee must: 1) have been recommended by a trainer or parent who exemplifies outstanding sportsmanship in the Eventing community 2)Active CCE Member 3) Under the age of 18 4)Has fulfilled 4 volunteer hours 5)No warnings verbal or written from TD at recognized HT with-in the nomination year.
f. Ties- Ties at the Champion and Reserve Champion levels will be broken by the following procedure: the winner with have the highest average of his/her top 3 scores at that level. If the horse/rider combination has less than 3 completions at that level then they will be placed 2nd in the tie. Ties will be honored at all other places with the next place to be skipped. (If two riders tie at 3rd place then 4th place is skipped)
g. Combined levels. I/P Division placings shall be calculated as Preliminary Level and Modified Division placings shall be calculated as Training Level for year-end awards
h. Regarding eligibility for the FEI level award, horse and rider combination must complete 1*, 2* 3* or 4* FEI Event.
Point scale awarded: Single 1* , Double 2*, Triple 3* and Quadruple 4*
Points are calculated as follows: (based on a 1* level, as indicated above the points increase with 2-4* levels)
1) Completion Points - 1 Point for completion of any FEI Event
2) Placing Points - Placing in the top 20 riders in a 1*-4*. 20th place = 1 point, 19th place = 2 points,18th place= 3 points, 17th place = 4 points, 16th place= 5 points, 15th place = 6 points, 14th place = 7 points,13th place = 8 points,12th place = 9 points, 11th place =10 points, 10th place = 11 points, 9th place = 12 points, 8th place = 13 points, 7th place = 14 points, 6th place = 15 points, 5th place = 16 points, 4th place =17 points, 3rd place = 18 points, 2nd place = 19 points,1st place 20 points.
3) Starter Points - Points awarded for an FEI 1*-4* division with more than 20 starters. Per 10 additional starters. 30 starters = 1 point, 40 starters = 2 points, 50 starters = 3 points, 60 starters =4 points, 70+ starters =5 points
Section 6. CCE Year-End Trophies
A. High Point Advanced Horse – Pewter Horse Statue, donated by Pendragon Stud Equestrian Center-Laura Backus in 1999. Awarded to the high point horse/rider combination at Advanced level in CCC.
B. Intermediate Award – Large Silver Bowl, donated by CCC in 1997. Awarded to the high point horse/rider combination at the Intermediate level in CCC.
C. Blue Mountain Preliminary Trophy – Silver Bowl, donated by the Rudolf family in 1981. Awarded to the high point horse /rider combination at the Preliminary level in CCC.
D. Will He Perpetual Trophy (Prelim) – Silver Tray, donated by Shelley Barnhardt & Company in 1996 in memory of “Will He” Lynn Klisavage’s partner for many E. years. Awarded to the high point first year Preliminary Horse in CCC.
E. High Point Young Rider – Large Ceramic Horse Head w/ wood base, donated by Prestige Training- James Moore and John Kelly in 2003. Awarded to the high point horse/rider combination age 16-21 at Preliminary Level and above in CCC.
F. President’s Trophy (Training Horse) – Water pitcher, donated by Mary Rose in 1976 for the high point Training horse/rider combination in CCC.
G. Senior Training Trophy – Plaque, donated by the Fine family in 2004. Awarded to the high point Senior rider/horse combination in CCC.
H. Junior Training Trophy – Carousel Horse, Donated by the Byyny family in 1985. Awarded to the high point Junior rider/horse combination in CCC.
I. Stokes Pre-Training (Novice) Trophy– Silver Ice Bucket, Donated by Elizabeth Stokes in 1976. Awarded to the top Novice horse/rider combination in CCC.
J. Senior Novice Trophy – Silver Plate, Donated by CCC in 1988. Awarded to the top Senior Novice rider/horse combination in CCC.
K. Junior Novice Trophy – Silver Pitcher, donated by the Smith family in 1982. Awarded to the top Junior Novice rider/horse combination in CCC.
L. Senior Beginner Novice Trophy – Wood base w/ Gold Horse Head, donated by Abbe Ranch in 1993.Awarded to the top Senior Beginner Novice horse/rider combination in CCC.
M. Junior Beginner Novice Trophy – Silver Cup, donated by Maidstone Farm in 1991. Awarded to the Junior Beginner Novice horse/rider combination in CCC.
N. Beginner Novice Rider Trophy (1st Year) – Gold & Silver Cup with Horse on top, donated by Platinum Farms – Rochelle Costanza in 2007. Awarded to the high point horse/rider combination in the Beginner Novice Division where the rider is new to eventing. See Section 3.E.d.
O. Leslie Terry Award – Large Silver Tray, donated by CCC in honor if Leslie Terry. Awarded to the CCC member who makes an outstanding contribution to the sport of eventing.
P. Elementary Rider Award – Child & Pony on wood base, donated by Platinum Farms –Rochelle Costanza in 2012 in memory of Avery Dudasch. Awarded to the high point Elementary horse/rider combination in CCC.
Q. Trainer Award – pewter “leg-up” rider and trainer on wood base, donated by Wendy Fryke in 2007. Awarded to the Trainer with the most overall combine points (students & personal) in CCC.
R. Overall Horse of the Year - Silver Ice Bucket donated In Loving Memory of Grieko The Amazing to the overall high point horse in CCC.
S. Spirit of Eventing Award – wood plaque, donated by the Severs family in 2016 in memory of Lydia Dequine. Awarded to a junior recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship in the Eventing community. See Section 3.E.e.
T. Platinum Farms FEI Champion Trophy – pewter horse & rider jumping, donated by Platinum Farms in 2020 awarded to the high point horse and rider combination at any FEI Level Event.
Section 7. Liquidation
Should the club be divested, all sums remaining after debts are paid are to be donated to the United States Equestrian Team, MSEA or another tax-exempt organization.
